Universal Cultural Society of Canada is hosting their second annual Holi Festival of Colours to Eliminate Racism.
Date: Saturday, March 22, 2008 Location: Pearl Banquet Hall 201-13030 76 Avenue, Surrey. Time: 4pm 10pm
This year UCSC will be celebrating the Holi Festival on Saturday March 22, 2008. Holi, the festival of colours, is a famous and popular spring festival in India that welcomes the spring and wishes the blessings of the Gods for good harvests and fertility for the land.
Holi usually begins with the lighting of bonfires and follows with everyone throwing coloured water or powder over friends or anyone who passes by. The colours are thrown on all participants to symbolically gesture the celebration of differences and equality. It is a joyous celebration where everyone dances and has great fun.
Timing for forgetting differences could not be better than the month of March, as this event follows the International Day to Eliminate Rascism.
